木工作品(7):NLight No.4 "L"ight

"L"ight 是第一個開始思考能夠商品化的夜燈。

主題還是延續「沒有開關的夜燈」,並且接受朋友的建議,把電源改成電池盒,以便放入4號電池2顆。另外利用磁鐵,以固定電池的蓋子,如此就可以方更攜帶。(其實我個人是覺得電池不環保,但…人不要太固埶)

透光外殼的部分,因為有兩個垂直直交的面,無法用一塊壓克力加熱折出來,所以我是使用3D printer印出來的。剛好也利用3DP表面一層一層橫紋的特色,做出表面的外觀。

最後裡面再加上LED燈,與滾珠開關,就成了一個夜燈了。目前試用的結果還蠻方便的。

木工(10):鑽孔刀具

鑽孔用的刀具,千變萬化,這篇是之前為了取門鎖的孔,所查到的資料,順道整理上來。話說鑽孔有分很多刀子,就利度而言,一般材質的刀子可能只能鑽柳桉、松木之類較軟的木頭,但要鑽到橡木、胡桃以上,真的要買好的刀。

其次要鑽出一個孔,可以用銑刀 或者 鑽頭,其差別在於鑽頭有側面刃口,在外緣有尖的沉割刃,使孔側面更加平整。

三尖鑽頭,材質HSS,不同一般金屬鑽頭在於頂端有三個尖點,比起金屬鑽頭來說可以減少撕裂毛邊,但還是有一些裂邊的問題。尺寸大多在2~12mm
四刃木工鑽頭,材質HSS,四刀刃排屑快,鑽出圓孔漂亮不會有毛邊,不過只有較大直徑的鑽頭有四刃 (7~26 mm)
木工扁平鑽頭(又稱鈑鑽),材質HSS,鑽孔時省力、快速,直徑6~40mm/刃長:116mm柄徑:1/4:(6.35mm)六角軸。

取空刀 (取孔鑽頭),刀尖處材質常見為鎢鋼,將木材鑽出欲使用的大小,挖空底部較平整,從15~85mm
透空刀 (開孔器)刀尖處材質常見為鎢鋼,因為鑽孔的深度有限,所以太厚又太硬的木頭得依情況考量來選用。

木工作品(6):門鎖展示架

做了一陣子的木工,剛好有個朋友拜託我幫忙做門鎖的展示架,想說剛好可以練習一下做門鎖安裝孔的技巧,所以就接來做了。

不過做東西永遠都是這樣,不做不知道,知道不值錢!

原來做門常用的柳桉木跟橡木的硬度差那麼多,五金行用來開門鎖孔的開孔器並不適合鑽橡木這種木料。然後去建成問,又才知道原來取空刀與開孔器的差別。另外在這個 case中,透空刀完全不能用。雖然知道自己在這個領域還很菜,但刀具的種類還是多到我大開眼界。下一篇會另外整理一下我剛所認識的刀具。

不過這個case之中,練習最多的就是打鑿的運用,因為要做沉槽,所以如何打出一個漂亮的槽,真的徹底地練習了。

What is TO ? What is TO CAN Lead Straightener?

What is TO?

TO is the short called name of Transmitter Outline CAN, which is a package way for chip, also be known as coaxial package. In the fiber-optic communication industry, TO package is a common form. Espacially, TO46 and TO56 are most common used.

In appearance, TO46 and TO56 have a clear difference between outer diameter after cover sealing. TO46’s OD is 4.6mm, and TO56’s is 5.6mm.

Its internal structure is also different, in general, TO46 is suitable for Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) elements, TO56 is suitable for edge-emitting laser elements. In fiber-optic communications industry, TO typically has more than 4 pin feet(4,5,6). Their length and diameter are also different for later applications. Usually length is less than 15mm and diameter is less than Ø0.5mm.

What is the TO CAN Lead Straightener?

In fiber-optic communications industry, TO’s long leads are usually retracted in production process because the convenience of mechanical picking and placing. For example,
(1) Leads are inserted into taper holes fixtures, so that the feet are pressed as concentrically.
(2) TO chassis manufacturers have pinched pins before shipping to packaging factories.
(3) If packaging factories use advanced capping process, we have to straight leads before power-on for optical coupling.
(4) Final burn-in test, operators waste time to insert TO into burn-in board slots manually.
You need a lot of manpower to catch up with production rate.
