What is TO ? What is TO CAN Lead Straightener?

What is TO?

TO is the short called name of Transmitter Outline CAN, which is a package way for chip, also be known as coaxial package. In the fiber-optic communication industry, TO package is a common form. Espacially, TO46 and TO56 are most common used.

In appearance, TO46 and TO56 have a clear difference between outer diameter after cover sealing. TO46’s OD is 4.6mm, and TO56’s is 5.6mm.

Its internal structure is also different, in general, TO46 is suitable for Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) elements, TO56 is suitable for edge-emitting laser elements. In fiber-optic communications industry, TO typically has more than 4 pin feet(4,5,6). Their length and diameter are also different for later applications. Usually length is less than 15mm and diameter is less than Ø0.5mm.

What is the TO CAN Lead Straightener?

In fiber-optic communications industry, TO’s long leads are usually retracted in production process because the convenience of mechanical picking and placing. For example,
(1) Leads are inserted into taper holes fixtures, so that the feet are pressed as concentrically.
(2) TO chassis manufacturers have pinched pins before shipping to packaging factories.
(3) If packaging factories use advanced capping process, we have to straight leads before power-on for optical coupling.
(4) Final burn-in test, operators waste time to insert TO into burn-in board slots manually.
You need a lot of manpower to catch up with production rate.

木工作品(5):用餘料做淺盒 & 筆筒

最近把餘料整理了一下,有不少小塊小塊的東西,所以就把它們組合在一起做些盒子。順道再練練做榫頭的基本功。


第一個是之前用胡桃木做夜燈的餘料,其中有一片是邊料,有缺陷。所以我剛把好他當作淺盒的靠背,變成其花樣。另一塊中間已被挖空,就用那挖空來做前板的花樣。最後就湊成一組淺盒了!

量測原理與機械工程實驗 (as a laboratory assistant)

Measurement and Mechanical Engineering Laboratory is a required course for junior students in the department of mechanical engineering at National Taiwan University. This course consists of miscellaneous topics of different fields such as material science, solid mechanics, thermal science, control, and fluid mechanics (see Fig. 1). Students can access equipment (or even build one on their own) which measures/demonstrates displacement, velocity, acceleration, force, torque, pressure, temperature, vibration, and other meaningful physical quantities.

開關參數設計 Analysis of Rocker switch's Parameters

搖擺式開關在生活幾乎無所不在了,小弟在碩班的時期曾經跟崧騰產學合作進行開關設計參數的探討。主要包括兩個內容:(1)尺寸對動態響應的影響,(2)電阻影響溫升的探討。

Rocker switches are common electro-mechanical components used to close or open electrical connections. Solteam Electronics Corporatoin, a famous electronics manufacturer in Taiwan, sought cooperation with mechanical engineering students at National Taiwan University in order to get more insights of the design parameters of a typical rocker switch MR22 (see Fig. 1). This project mainly focused on two subjects, the first was the effects of geometric parameters on mechanical performance indices like maximum force required and stroke length, the second one was the validation of a simplified mathematical model predicting electrical contact resistance and the equilibrium temperature.

What is ACF ?
Anisotropic Conductive Film, ACF, is special materials in the fabric between the two substrates bonded. Characterized in that the electrode is connected by the conductive particles between the two substrates, such that the conductive Z-axis direction is better, but the XY direction of the conductive is insulation. So that the current can only flow from the conductive bonding direction (vertical direction), but also can avoid conduction between adjacent electrodes shorted.

異方性導電膠(Anisotropic Conductive Film;ACF),是指在兩基材之間的佈貼合的特殊材料。其特點在於利用導電粒子連接IC晶片與基板兩者之間的電極,使得Z軸方向的導電性較好,但其XY方向的導電性卻接近絕緣。以致於電流只能從黏合方向(垂直方向)導通流動,但又同時能避免相鄰兩電極間導通短路。目前ACF常用到的例如軟式排線、Film On Glass(FOG)薄膜軟板╱玻璃貼合製程等。

ACF Bonding Tech
ACF bonding technology is the using of ACF, by hot pressing, to bond FPC on the LCD glass substrate. Integrated circuit align the tiny mark point on glass substrate, which requires a very precise positioning, so that a good connection of circuit.

ACF熱壓焊接技術是運用ACF(異方向性導電膜),通過預壓將IC或集成電路邦定(Bonding)在LCD玻璃基板上。通過對齊積體電路和玻璃基板上微小的mark點,這需要進行非常精確的定位,使線路很好的連通。

觀看的人最主要還是來自在台灣的朋友,美國9千的點閱應該是來自在美國的大學同學。
不過竟然俄羅斯也有766點閱數,都不知道是不是誤觸。

最熱門文章是清一色以Arduino為主,看來有一堆學生要做專題很努力找資料。
唯一特別的就是"瓦斯熱水器內部構造" 看來這應該是經常有人要維修找資料。

雖然最近想休息一下,先想用心在公司的工作上

木工作品(2):月夜燈 NLight No.1


今年預計的Project就是把所學到的木工,結合本身機械、電子的專業,去設計一些木製產品。經過一些考量 (方便來回林口攜帶、由簡入繁、可不斷變化) 我決定今年以一系列的夜燈開發當作Project。先從臨摩別人的作品開始,然後逐漸加入自己的點子。希望接下來每個月至少可以設計&製作一個夜燈,變成一系列 NLight (Night Light)。

The project in this year is expected to combine carpentry learned recently and own machinery & electronics expertise to design some wood products. To think some considerations (easy to carried and develop) I decided to develop a series of nightlights as Project in this year. Start from imitating others' work, and then gradually add my ideas. I hope I can design & produce one nightlights per month at least, to be a series of NLight (Night Light).




Concept
這個月首先登場的是NLight-Moon。以月圓當作概念。
利用淺白色的楓木,配合黃色的LED條燈,做出中秋月圓的意象。
First product in this month is NLight-Moon. Using full moon as a concept,
basing white maple, with yellow LED lights, displaying the Mid-Autumn moon imagery.

作法
1. 首先在CAD裡先設計與確認設計的尺寸。
2. 備料,把所需的楓木尺寸裁切出來,總共三塊。
  

3. 其中有兩塊要切出圓來,先用壓克力線鋸 鋸出圓來,再用鑿刀修整圓。
 

4. 膠合三片,並利用虎前與C型夾固定住。
5. 等待木工膠乾著之後,用鉋刀削平外觀,並用砂紙打磨,最後上保護木蠟油。
  

6. 先鑽要給電線跑的孔,使電線穿過到內側,並焊接LED燈條 (30cm 12V 5W)
7. 安裝線上開關,以控制燈啟動與否。記得LED電極有方向性,小心不要接錯。
 

8. 完成接線,試點燈。

Step
  1. Designed and checked the dimensions in CAD.
  2. Prepared materiel, cut the required size of maple, including three prats.
  3. Two parts have to be cut out circles hole, using acrylic wire sawing to cut firstly, then trimmed around the circle by chisel.
  4. Glued three pieces together, and used C-clamps to fix.
  5. After glue dried, flattening appearance by plane iron and sand paper, and finally applied wood wax as protection.
  6. Drilled holes for installing wires and welded to LED strip (30cm 12V 5W)
  7. Installed a line switch to control ON/OFF. Remember LED's electrode has direction.

檢討:
1. 備料是一個學問,通常由最小的尺寸開始裁切起,並考量餘料是否能安全裁切等等。
2. LED燈不夠深入,從外觀很容易看得出來,光線也因此不夠均勻。
3. 線上開關離燈超過30cm,不利使用者操作。
4. 因為LED還是會發熱,以至中間那一片,某些薄肉處會因熱變形,使表面鼓起不平。
5. 組合三片木頭,但花紋沒有對齊,十分可惜。
